Position Overview

The Government Affairs Associate is an entry- to mid-level role designed for individuals looking to build a career in lobbying and public affairs. The Associate will support senior staff by monitoring legislation, preparing research and briefing materials, and assisting with client engagement. This role is ideal for someone with strong research, writing, and organizational skills who thrives in a fast-paced political environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

Legislative & Regulatory Support

• Monitor and track legislation, committee hearings, and regulatory actions.
• Draft bill summaries, client alerts, and weekly reports.
• Research policy issues and provide background materials for senior staff.

 

Client & Internal Support

• Assist in drafting talking points, presentations, and briefing documents.
• Coordinate meeting preparation and follow-up for client and legislative engagements.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for firm events and client activities.

 

Relationship Building

• Attend legislative sessions, hearings, and political/community events.
• Build networks with legislative staff, agency officials, and stakeholders.
• Represent the firm in entry-level interactions with policymakers and associations.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Policy, Communications, or related field.
• 1–3 years of relevant experience (internships, campaigns, legislative, or policy experience preferred).
• Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Demonstrated interest in politics and government affairs.
• High level of professionalism, discretion, and eagerness to learn.

 

Salary

Negotiable, Based Upon Experience
